Hi, I’m Pastor Dave Martin and I want to welcome you to Trinity Lutheran Church. Here are the things I want our congregation to know.
Above everything else, I want them to know God loves them. His love is most radically shown through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly died, so those of us who believe in Him could live. I remind our congregation regularly they are loved, forgiven, children of God who have been filled with the Holy Spirit.
I remind our congregation continually it is the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things, who leads us into all truth, and who reminds us of everything that Jesus said and did when He walked this earth. It is the Holy Spirit who allows us to make sense of God’s Word, to hear God’s voice, and to personally experience the fruit of the Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit we are merely playing at church.
I want our congregation to know and move in the power of prayer. Toward that end, I lead periodic workshops to help people grow in their ability to pray for themselves and for others. We also have a Prayer Ministry Team, who prays weekly for people in our Prayer Room.
I want our congregation to know the Bible is God’s inerrant Word and is our norm and standard for life. Most of my sermons are verse-by-verse preaching through a scripture passage and are designed to help listeners understand what the text is saying for their lives today.
I want our congregation to know each of them was created for a purpose and God has a plan for each one of their lives. I seek to identify gifts and talents I see in our members and try to equip them to use those gifts for God’s glory.
I want our congregation to understand the value in small-group ministry and regularly schedule Alpha courses, where they can experience the joy of being a part of a meaningful small group, while learning much about the Christian faith. I am also seeking to establish a Life Group ministry at Trinity, though this is still in its infancy. My hope is that we would soon have many groups of 8 to 12 people meeting regularly in people’s homes to study God’s Word together, to pray together, and to fellowship together. I have witnessed the changes Life Groups made in other churches that I pastored and am eager to see Life Groups thrive at Trinity.
This will give you some idea what our church is like, but there’s only one way to evaluate our church and that is by worshipping with us. So, try us out for a month and see what you think. I think you’ll find our congregation to be friendly, our worship services to be meaningful, and you’ll discover a place where you can grow as you love and serve God. I hope to meet you soon.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Dave Martin
