Christians love Easter! It’s a time to rejoice that Jesus Christ is Risen Today.  It’s a time to remember Jesus has triumphed over sin, death, and the power of the devil. It’s a time to acknowledge that He who was dead is now alive.

But if you aren’t living each day like Christ is alive, you haven’t really grasped the significance of Easter. Because Easter changed everything! Good Friday secured our forgiveness from our sins and made us right in our Father’s eyes, but it was Easter that allowed us to share in the resurrection power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was Easter that enabled us to be filled with the Spirit of Christ and walk in His power. And it is His Spirit within us that allows us to experience His love, walk in His peace, and live in His joy from now throughout eternity.

It is the Holy Spirit within us that allows us to understand God’s Word, to hear God’s voice, and to understand the calling He has for each one of us. It is His Spirit within us who gives us wisdom and revelation, who guides us through life’s minefields, and who gives us godly discernment. Only His Spirit can allow us to see ourselves as God’s children and to believe that we can do the very things Jesus did when He walked this earth.

Understanding our great need for the Holy Spirit, I invite you to pray for a fresh infilling of the Spirit as you pray this prayer in your heart.

Holy Spirit,

Come into my life with power today. Open my heart, so I can feel you. Open my mind, so I can understand what You want me to know. Open my ears, so I can hear Your voice. Open my eyes, so I can see the path You have laid out for me. Illuminate God’s Word for me that I might read it and understand it and store it in my heart as a weapon against the enemy and as a reminder of the promises God has made to me.

Anoint my prayer life, Lord, and give me the words to pray in any situation. Use my prayers to bless the people around me, to speak healing into the lives of the sick, to speak hope into the lives of the hopeless, and to lead the lost to You, Lord Jesus.

Bless me, Lord, with boldness, but temper my boldness with gentleness, compassion, and respect. Lead me, Holy Spirit, to people who are longing to know Jesus. Allow me to witness to them in a way that glorifies You and brings them to the point of inviting You into their lives. Awaken in me a desire to disciple people and to walk alongside them in their journey with Christ. Fill me with the fruit of the Spirit and make me attractive to the people around me.

In Jesus’s mighty name,  Amen

Wishing you a happy, healthy, and blessed Easter! Love, Pastor Dave
